President’s Regional Advisory Committee

The Oregon Wine Council (OWC) was established to strengthen, unify, and represent the entire Oregon wine and grape industry. Oregon’s wine industry offers a broad array of varietals from across our state. In creating the OWC, it was important to the founders to recognize the diversity of Oregon’s wineries and growers and to promote the interests of our industry as a whole.

To highlight the importance of regional input, the OWC Board established the President’s Regional Advisory Committee to promote statewide cooperation and information sharing for the industry. There are a number of regional associations in Oregon that have been founded over the years. Our goal is to bring all of those interests together to better serve our industry. The President’s Regional Advisory Committee will be open to staff members or officers of any regional wine association in Oregon as identified by the President.

The purpose of the President’s Regional Advisory Committee will be to:

  • Identify issues facing wineries and growers across the state

  • Share best practices to assist our members

  • Discuss policy issues facing our industry

  • Coordinate on events as appropriate

  • Discuss regulatory issues facing the Oregon wine industry through both OLCC and OWB

  • Discuss priorities of wineries and growers in different regions

  • Share information on local, state and federal issues facing the industry

  • Identify opportunities to engage elected officials in their specific communities

  • Make recommendations and provide input to the OWC Board on issues facing wineries and growers in Oregon

The President or a designee of the President will serve as the Chair and convener of the President’s Regional Advisory Committee. Meetings will be held at least quarterly and agendas will be developed by the Chair with input given from committee members. The meetings will rotate through different regions of the state, with phone in options available as well.

Participants in the President’s Regional Advisory Committee will not be required to hold membership in OWC to participate. While individual members of regional associations may also be members of OWC, regional associations will participate in an advisory capacity with the goal of encouraging communication and partnership across our industry.
